Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore invites high caliber professionals Senior Inspector (Inspection Division, QID) to strenght the team, Career Goverment Singapore 2011

The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority is the national authority on food safety in Singapore dedicated to ensuring a resilient supply of safe food, safeguarding the health of animals and plants, and facilitating agri-trade for the well-being of the nation. Our core functions include ensuring food safety, ensuring resilience in food supply, safeguarding animal and plant health, safeguarding animal welfare, promoting agrotechnology, investing in research and development and protecting endangered wildlife.

Responsibilities

1.  To conduct regulatory inspections and sampling on imported products to ensure safety and fit for consumption
2.  To conduct checks on import documents and compliance checks to labeling requirements
3.  To assist and carry out enforcement action for infringements of the legislation
4.  To assist and conduct surprise checks on imports to ensure compliance to requirements
5.  To assist in surveillance projects
6.  To assist in the administration work
7.  To carry out any other duties as directed by supervisor

Requirements

GCE ‘O’ Level, ‘A’ Level or Diploma in Food Technology, Food Science, Horticulture or any general science

•  Willing to work outside normal office hours and do shift work
•  Willing to work under warm and humid environment
•  Good interpersonal skills
•  Good written communication skills.
•  Possesses a class “3” driving licence
•  Capable to deal with demanding customers
•  Preferably with basic knowledge of IT applications (Word processing, Excel, Access, Powerpoint etc).
