The Registry of Patents stewards and facilitates the formulation and development of patent law and policy, ensuring that the patent laws remain relevant and provide a balanced framework for patent protection and exploitation. The Registry of Patents also represents Singapore's interest in patent matters at various international fora.

In addition, the Registry of Patents oversees the administration and processing of patents filed under the Patents Act and regularly reviews its policies, procedures, service standards and systems. These include the design and development of innovative supporting platforms and infrastructure. The Registry also acts as a receiving Office for international applications filed by a resident or national of Singapore under the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
Responsibilities

1. Review and draft patent related legislation.
2. Review and formulate national policies relating to patents matters.
3. Provide legal advice on patent-related matters.
4. Represent Singapore/IPOS in international events, meetings or negotiations on patent-related matters.
5. Assist in Registry-related operations, processes and matters.

Requirements

1. LLB (Honours) degree; candidate should preferably have read intellectual property or have prior relevant experience;
2. Qualified to practise in Singapore as an Advocate & Solicitor;
3. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
