Responsibilities
- You will play a key supporting role to formulate the organization’s IP management policy and system, and in raising the capabilities and competencies of organization across all levels. You will take on a leading role in IP management for the organization, including ensuring adherence to IP management policies and procedures. In addition, you will manage and maintain trademark applications, prepare reports, conduct and analyze trademark searches including ability to understand how trademarks registrations work in Singapore and outside of Singapore. You may also be assisting with investigation of third party use of marks, which would include handling trademark opposition, cancellation, infringements and other conflict matters.
- You will also have a hand in soliciting reviews, opinions of outside counsel (in Singapore or elsewhere) where required and making recommendations and advising internal units on appropriate trademark use and general IP matters.
- You will be responsible for other special administration matters of an in-house legal team such as assisting the General Counsel in attending to the budget needs of STB departments / line units where external legal advice is required by these line units and processing invoices for payment to external counsels.
Requirements
- You should ideally have a Diploma in Law & Management or Legal Studies from Temasek Polytechnic and/or experience in general management and day-to-day running of a law office or legal department of a multi-national company or similar, possess the basic understanding of intellectual property law and have interest and passion for this area of law. The ideal candidate should have experience in liaising with external counsels, including handling billing matters with external counsels in Singapore and outside of Singapore. Possessing creative problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills is a prerequisite.
