The National Research Foundation (NRF), a department under the Prime Minister’s Office, was established in January 2006 with the mission to initiate, promote and facilitate (through financial assistance) research and development in Singapore and to co-ordinate and direct research and development by the Government, educational institutions and research communities within Singapore. The NRF is currently on its 2nd 5 year-plan. Apart from building on the initiatives established during the first 5-year plan of 2006-2010, the NRF plans to develop solutions to National Innovation Challenges, drawing on the R&D capabilities built up in Singapore. The first such Challenge identified is ‘Energy Resilience for Sustainable Growth”.



The NRF serves as the Secretariat to the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council (RIEC), chaired by the Prime Minister. The RIEC advises Cabinet on national research and innovation policies and strategies.

Reporting to the Director, Projects, the individual will be part of the team in the formulation and implementation of national research funding programmes, working in close collaboration with various government ministries and agencies based on a whole-of-government approach.
Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement and manage call for research proposals, including managing and tracking the review process for research proposals and projects
  • Prepare pertinent statistical data and reports related to research funding within and outside the organisation
  • Analyse statistical data to identify patterns and trends related to science and technology
  • Research, analyze and prepare documentation and recommendations in support of R&D strategic topics
  • Coordinate, assemble and review materials pertaining to identified R&D strategic topics
  • Conduct studies to evaluate and measure the progress and success of funded projects, and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of research funding
  • Monitor the funding programme activities on a regular basis and conduct annual evaluation

Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Science or Engineering or Materials Science
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience
  • Returning Scholars could be considered
